A Beginning Hiker’s Go Pack ♥
Hi! Thanks for clicking in. When I first started hiking I realized rather quickly the need for certain supplies on hand. You have your basics like water, but there were also those other things I hadn’t thought about until I needed them. Below is my always on-hand and ready to go, list.

- Lightweight Backpack – I LOVE my OSPREY DAYLITE pack. It has all the compartments I need, can hold a water camel bag, is extremely comfortable, and has held up very well!
- Water Bottle – I love my Hydro Flask Water Bottle. I have had it for years! When I am doing simpler hikes that are near water dispensers I opt to hike with it and just refill as needed.
- Camel Water Pack (I use for the longer hikes)
- Protein Bar – KIND Bars are my FAV. They are low in sugar, natural, and give that needed energy. I tend to need snacks when on a hike and these are perfect
- Hand Wipes – There is always a need at some point for these towelettes and this one purchase has lasted us many hikes and trips. Made from natural and non irritating ingredients which is important to me
- Emergency Whistle – No explanation needed
- First Aid Kit – I made my own which includes various size bandages, gauze, emergency blanket, and waterproof matches. But you can find lots on Amazon if you want a pre-packed one
- Splint – I learned about these in a CPR/First Aid course and have packed one ever since
- Sunblock – As I said before CeraVe is my favorite
- Mosquito & bug repellent – Compact and plant based repellent
- Mini Flashlight – These work great and are compact
- Pocket Knife – My little knife I have had for years and it was given to me. The link is for one that is very similar
- I also pack feminine hygiene products (just in case)
This should help get you started on your hiking journey ♥ If you are an avid hiker you probably pack a more advanced go bag and have tips to share of your own, so feel free to leave a comment and suggestions. Cheers to all your adventures my friends!
