Travel Tips For Your Hawaiian Adventure!

  • DO book those adventures and restaurants in advance. And don’t be shy to ask if there is any way you can be added, should you forget. It never hurts to try!
  • Remember to check-in for your flight and confirm its status.
  • Do bring all the luggage you are allowed on the airline. If you don’t need it flying out I suggest packing the extra duffel bag or luggage within another. This way you have luggage dedicated to all the art, souvenirs, and Hawaiian cookies you want to bring home!
  • Do take that Less-Drowsy Dramamine the night before your boat, helicopter, or any other excursion that might cause you queasiness.
  • Do wear Sunblock (reef-safe sunblock) and reapply, even if its overcast. Keep a bottle in your luggage and another for on the go. Did I mention reef-safe(!) I love CeraVe products and their sunblock is excellent!
  • Do pack some cute and comfy sandals, Sorel and Tevas are my FAVORITE sandals. Darn cute and comfy. Also a good pair of walking/hiking shoes. I personally love a great pair of trail running shoes for hiking, because they are not bulky and have great grip! Wear them before your trip so you can break them in and make sure they are comfortable. You will most likely be doing lots of walking.
  • No need to overpack or over dress. I found that half the clothing I thought I’d wear, I did not. Those extra “just-in case it’s cold” or “I’d like to dress up every night for dinner” is not needed! And you probably won’t be wearing those 4 inch heels…
  • Do pre-plan some fun and coordinated island styles to wear. Trust me, you will be glad you did and can do so without the over packing. If any threads from my blog caught your eye see links below.
  • Bring two suits or more. No one likes to put on a cold wet or sandy suit. Feel free to overpack those.
  • Make a plan and if you are like me you will have an itinerary, but don’t overbook yourself and be open to changes and hiccups.
  • If a local suggests you to try some kind of drink, food, or place, I’d consider listening. I was always glad I did!
  • Leave early for the Road to Hana. It does get congested. So be patient and courteous, or just book a tour and sit back and relax!
  • Do watch at least one sunrise and sunset ♥
  • Do enjoy Hawaiian shaved ice as often as possible!
